Eumea mitis
This one was discovered by Ivan Perry amongst some normal Eumea linearicornis. The two species are quite hard to split but from what we have seen so far mitis is still likely to be much rarer than linearicornis.
1. Facial ridges when seen from the side convex in males, straight in females. Face distinctly longer than the frons in males, about as long in females. Parafacial with only 2 – 4 hairs below the lowest parafrontal bristle. Hairs on the anterior 1/3 of the parafrontalia much sparser and shorter than in the posterior 1/3. Third antennal segment in males 4.3 – 5.5x as long as the 2nd, and strongly prominent at its base, in females 2.9 – 3.7x as long as the 2nd…………………….. linearicornis Zett.
– Facial ridges straight in males, weakly concave in females. Face about as long as the frons in males, a little shorter in females. Parafacial with more hairs below the parafrontal bristles, often reaching down to the middle of the cheeks. Hairs on the anterior of the parafrontalia nearly as dense and long as the posterior. Third antennal segment in males 3.0 – 3.9x as long as the second, and not prominent at its base, in females 2.1 – 2.9x as long as the 2nd ………………………mitis Meig.
